Cam Motion offers a wide selection of hydraulic roller camshafts for Chevrolet LS1 and LS6 engines. These cams are divided into four basic categories…Naturally Aspirated, Nitrous Injected, Turbocharged, and Supercharged…and are available for a variety of RPM ranges. Where needed, engine component, air and fuel delivery, exhaust, and driveline upgrades are specified in the application description. Most cams will need PCM tuning, but a few will not.
If your LS engine is not running any power adder, then look no further than our Naturally Aspirated cams. These cams are divided into four types…Street Performance, Street and Strip, Strip and Street, and Race Only.
Our Naturally Aspirated Street Performance cams are designed for cars and trucks that are used for daily drivers or towing applications. They will work with all factory accessories, stock torque convertors, and exhaust systems. With proper tuning, all will provide a smooth idle. And yes, they’ll work fine with bolt-on hot rod parts as long as the parts are designed to work within the RPM range given for the camshaft.
If you’re gonna’ drive your naturally aspirated LS1 or LS6 Camaro, Firebird, or Corvette mostly on the street, but you’re gonna’ take it to the track on a regular basis, then check out our Street and Strip cams. These cams will work with all factory accessories, but you’re gonna’ need to run a looser convertor. Idle quality ranges from smooth to slightly choppy with good tuning.
Strip and Street… your power brakes and other factory accessories may not work very well with these cams because they were designed for those of you who want your cake and still be able to eat it, too!! For some cams, substantial upgrades are recommended and for others they are required. Properly tuned, these cams will give you a slightly choppy idle.
Race Only…the name says it all...RACE ONLY!!! Factory accessories ARE NOT recommended and extensive upgrades are required. With good tuning, the idle quality ranges from noticeably choppy to rough.
If you're nunning nitrous (NOS, N2O, whatever you want to call it) and you REALLY want your car to run best when you're on the button, then you need a cam that's specifically designed for nitrous injection. These cams call for a variety of upgrades. Idle quality ranges from smooth to noticeably choppy. The smaller cams will work with factory accessories, but the bigger ones....well, just read the descriptions.
Is it blown or is it supercharged? Some folks say they are the same and some say they're not. Anyway, if your running either a Roots-type or a centrifugal supercharger, then check out our LS1/LS6 supercharger cams. Different profiles are used for different size blowers and different levels of boost, Special profiles are used for combinations running intercoolers or methanol injection. What's that? You're running E85? We gotcha' covered with four profiles that are specificaly designed for blown LS1 and LS6 engines that run on E85 fuel.
And no, we not overlooked those of you who prefer turbos. Yep, different profiles for diffferent turbo set-ups and different levels of boost. Different profiles for use with intercoolers or methanol injection. And yes, we've got the E85 turbo people covered, too!
